Exporting Maps
Download your maps as high-resolution images for VTT, print, or sharing.
Export Format
All maps export as high-resolution PNG files. The exported image contains the full rendered battlemap generated from your painted zone layout.
Resolution Tiers
| Tier | Max Resolution | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 1024 × 1024 px | Digital sharing, online VTT at small scale |
| Master Cartographer | 4096 × 4096 px (4K) | Print, large VTT maps, high-res player handouts |
Virtual Tabletop Import
Foundry VTT
Upload the exported PNG as a new Scene background image. In Scene settings, set the grid size to match your pixels-per-square export setting (default: 100px). Foundry will align the grid automatically.
Roll20
Upload the PNG to your Roll20 library, then set it as the map background in a page. Set the page dimensions to match your export — Roll20 uses 70px per grid square as its default.
For A3 print at 300dpi, you need at least 3508 × 4961 px. This requires the Master Cartographer 4K export. Send directly to a printer or use a print service. Laminated prints hold up well for repeated tabletop use.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I export a map without the auto-stylized layer?
- No. Exporting downloads your generated map artwork. Your painted zone canvas serves as the spatial guide for generation, while exported images contain the full rendered battlemap.
- Can I export each map version separately?
- Yes. Select the version you want to export in the Versions panel, then use the download button. Each version export is independent.
- Is there a watermark on exported maps?
- No. There is no watermark on any export tier. Your maps are yours to use however you like.
