Exporting Maps
Download your maps as high-resolution images for VTT, print, or sharing.
Export Format
All maps export as PNG files with transparency support. The exported image includes the auto-stylized layer (if generated) composited over the territory/zone shapes. If no auto-style has been applied, the export shows the base map with flat territory colors.
Resolution Tiers
| Tier | Max Resolution | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 1024 × 1024 px | Digital sharing, online VTT at small scale |
| Master Cartographer | 4096 × 4096 px (4K) | Print, large VTT maps, high-res player handouts |
Virtual Tabletop Import
Foundry VTT
Upload the exported PNG as a new Scene background image. In Scene settings, set the grid size to match your pixels-per-square export setting (default: 100px). Foundry will align the grid automatically.
Roll20
Upload the PNG to your Roll20 library, then set it as the map background in a page. Set the page dimensions to match your export — Roll20 uses 70px per grid square as its default.
For A3 print at 300dpi, you need at least 3508 × 4961 px. This requires the Master Cartographer 4K export. Send directly to a printer or use a print service. Laminated prints hold up well for repeated tabletop use.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I export a map without the auto-stylized layer?
- Yes. In the export dialog, choose "Base map only" to export the flat territory color version without any AI styling applied.
- Can I export each campaign stage separately?
- Yes. Switch to the stage you want to export, then use the Export button. Each export is independent. You can export all stages in a batch from the project settings page.
- Is there a watermark on exported maps?
- No. There is no watermark on any export tier. Your maps are yours to use however you like.
