Campaign Control Deck
Stage battlemap scenes, layer live weather atmosphere, and broadcast live screens with zero spoilers.
Broadcast Architecture (Staging vs. Live)
The Campaign Control Deck separates what the GM is working on from what the players see. It follows a classic broadcast Program/Preview architecture:
- GM Staging View (Preview): Your active editing sandbox. Pick map versions, toggle weather effects, and framing camera angles privately.
- Live Player Display (Program): The secondary display broadcasted to your players' Smart TV, tablet, or projector. This display only updates when you press Push to Display.
Connecting Player Displays via Room Codes
Connecting a secondary display or player screen is simple and requires no browser plugins or complex local server configuration:
- Launch your campaign deck in Cartographer to view your 4-character session room code (e.g.
RUNE). - On your Smart TV, iPad, or secondary browser window, navigate to
https://app.cartographer.live/pair. - Enter the 4-character room code to establish an instant real-time websocket & broadcast channel connection.
Atmosphere & Weather Soundboard
Enhance encounter immersion using the live atmosphere soundboard controls:
- Multi-Layer Weather: Combine Torrential Rain + Inferno Embers or Fog + Ash simultaneously.
- Staged Adjustments: Select or clear weather effects in staging without affecting the live player view until you hit Push to Display.
Picture-in-Picture & Blackout Supervision
The control deck includes a Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mini window in the corner of your main viewport. Click the PiP window anytime to swap between Staging view and Live Broadcast view.
Use the Blackout toggle when you want to temporarily blank player screens during secret GM preparation or narrative transitions.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I use multiple player screens simultaneously?
- Yes. Any number of devices connected using the same 4-character room code will receive live updates simultaneously.
- Does closing the browser drop the room code?
- No. Room codes are safely persisted per campaign so you can return to your session anytime without re-pairing.
